Homemade Bbq Sauce
Steps
1
Preheat your oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit.
2
Position a 3 to 5 pound boneless pork butt roast in a 5 or 7-quart oven-safe pot with a lid, or alternatively, you can use a roasting pan that you will later cover with aluminum foil.
3
Rub 2 tablespoons garlic powder, 1 tablespoon salt, and 1 tablespoon black pepper all over the pork roast to coat it evenly. Drizzle 2 tablespoons hickory liquid smoke over the seasoned pork.
4
Cover the pot with its lid or tightly cover the roasting pan with aluminum foil. Roast for 8 to 9 hours, until pork shreds easily with a fork. Shred the cooked pork in the pan and mix it well with the juices.
5
Meanwhile, make the homemade bbq sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together 1 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup brown sugar1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, 2 teaspoons liquid smoke, 2 teaspoons salt, 2 teaspoons black papper, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard until well combined.
6
Stir bbq sauce into shredded cooked pork and serve hot.
