Steps

1
Prep the French bread:
Slice the loaf in half lengthwise.
Pull out some of the inside bread to hollow it slightly.
Spread mayo or butter on both cut sides.
Sprinkle with garlic powder + parsley.
Bake at 400°F for 5–7 minutes until lightly toasted.
2
Add meats & cheeses:
Layer turkey, salami, and pepperoni.
Add provolone + Swiss over the meats.
Return to the oven for about 5 minutes until the cheese melts.
3
Make the grinder salad:
In a bowl, mix
Shredded lettuce
Red onions
Pepperoncinis
Pickles
Mayo
Submarine dressing
Red pepper flakes
Salt & pepper
Banana peppers, if using them.
Stir until everything is coated and creamy.
4
Assemble:
Remove the sandwich from the oven.
Add tomato slices if you use them.
Spoon the grinder salad over the meats and cheese.
Close the sandwich.
5
Finish:
Brush the top with melted butter.
Sprinkle with grated Parmesan.
Slice into 4 sandwiches per each loaf of french bread.
Serve warm.

Notes

Hollowing the French bread keeps it from getting soggy.
Swiss + provolone melt beautifully together and give that deli flavor.
Grinder salad can be made ahead and stored for 24 hours.
Add banana peppers if you want extra tang.
Toasting the bread with mayo gives a crisp, golden edge.
