Lighter Burger Sauce Quantity For 4

Steps

1
Method
1. Make the sauce: Mix mayonnaise, mustard and tomato sauce. Add water gradually until it drizzles
easily. Refrigerate until serving.
2. Prepare the salad: Wash and dry the greens. Slice the onion and avocado. Divide greens among four
bowls and add onion, avocado and pickle slices.
3. Cook the beef: Shape mince into four thin patties, or cook it loose in a non-stick pan. Use a splash of
water if needed to prevent sticking. Season with black pepper. Cook mince thoroughly; if using a
thermometer, aim for 71°C in the centre.
4. Assemble: Add the cooked beef to each bowl. Drizzle with sauce and add optional cheese. Serve straight away.

Tony’s portion
Aim for 100–120 g raw lean beef mince (about one quarter of the 500 g batch), a generous bed of
greens, ¼ medium avocado, a little red onion, 2–3 pickle slices and a light drizzle of sauce. For the
lighter version, leave out bacon and preferably cheese.

What about Tony’s portion?
* 120–150 g cooked lean beef mince, adjusting to your appetite and the amount of raw mince needed to produce that serving.
* A generous serving of lettuce, cucumber and other salad vegetables.
* Approximately ¼ of the avocado, depending on its size.
* A little red onion optional
* No added salt, and preferably no pickles or only a few lower-sodium slices.
* No cheese, or just a small sprinkle.

Family adjustments
Keep the base meal the same for everyone. Family members can add extra beef, avocado or cheese to suit their appetites.
4
Choose lower-sodium pickles where practical and keep the sauce modest.
